Our shooting assignment was to take pictures of our schools annual hockey game, Catholic cup. The first picture shows the two teams about to start playing the game once again. I chose this picture because not only can you see each team so focused on the game, but the fans in the back are too. The second photo is a picture of my friend Jocelyn, looking out of a window at something unknown in the distance. The lightning in this photo perfectly lights up her face but leaves a nice shadow on everything else. The third picture captures the excitement of the fans after St. Joes won the game. It features the students with a sign in the background as the main focus.
Patterns Febuary 18th 2017
This week we had to take pictures of patterns. The first picture is a close-up of a glass table which hasn't been cleaned in a while giving the matte look to it. In some spots the dust has been removed giving the table a more interesting look in the light. The second picture is of a small mirror at the base of a flight of stairs, which you can see the reflection of in the mirror. The mirror itself has patterns in it as well, on the sides, around the mirror and around the curved top. The third picture is the most obvious pattern photo. It's a close-up of an old wooden door and you can easily see the patterns the wood makes.
Letters Febuary 25th 2017
Our assignment was to take photos of our initials, mine ring A and W. The picture is of an A block I found put against a white sheet so the block would really stand out. The lighting make the folds in the sheet really stand out and gives the picture some texture. The second picture is of keys on my laptop, focusing on the A key. I didn't just want the A key to be the only thing in the photo, just the main focus which is why there and many keys in the background, including a W as well. The third picture is obviously an A&W sign which I chose because its literally a sign with nothing but my two initials.
hands March 4th 2017
This weekend we had to take picture of hands. All three pictures are of my moms hands, which i put in black and white to make them look more serious. The first photo is of her hand reaching out with its shadow against a wall. I chose this photo because I like the lighting and contrast in it. You can see from one corner to another, the lighting goes dark to light. You can also see the light hand in the dark corner with its dark shadow in the light corner. The second picture has her hands covering her face. The background is dark which makes her standout. She's the only thing in frame and in the centre of the photo so all focus goes straight to her. The third picture is a close-up of her hands intertwined by the fingers. It shows all the details of her fingers and hands against a dark background.
Detail portrait march 18th 2017
This week we had to take detailed portraits. The first picture is a close on of my moms hand as she's driving. I wanted to focus on the hand and the wheel and make that the centre if the picture. The second is another close up, this time of my brothers eye. He's looking directly at the camera which give you the feeling that he's looking directly at the person looking at the photo. You can only see a bit go this face which give you a sense of mystery as to what is happening out of frame. The trio picture is of my mother again. Its a picture of her faced away from you, but she's tilted in a way that makes it seem like she's looking at something else.
easter april 16th 2017
For this assignment we had to take pictures during our Easter break. The first picture is an upwards photo of my brother witch a blooming tree as the background. It shows him looking at something in the distance with the sun just coming out from behind his head. I also like the contrast between the blue sky and the green and white tree. The second is a close-up of one of the flowers on the tree. The flower is the only thing in focus with everything in the background out of focus. The third picture is another close-up. my brother took one of the flowers and stuck it behind his ear. I cropped it in a way that shows the flower is still the main focus, with the blurred tree still in the background.
